Ribbon Cutting at Fields of Hope, a Mission Southside project

401 E. Dennis Avenue 401 E. Dennis Avenue, Olathe, KS, United States

On May 16, the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Olathe program will join Mission Southside and other partners to celebrate the opening of Fields of Hope. Mission Southside is a local non-profit that extends “help through hope” to the community’s most marginalized, low-income populations. The Leadership Olathe Class of 2024 and many other community members contributed their time, talents and donations towards a strategic partnership between Mission Southside and the American Legion. Together, these partners have transformed their shared green space into a community space to be used for family sports nights, a youth soccer club, summer day camps, neighborhood events and Legion events, all free of charge to the community. The Fields of Hope project will include a soccer field, sand volleyball court, upgrades to the existing pavilion with a commercial grill, a fire pit and horseshoe pits. Learn more about the project in this video. The Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Olathe program selects a class service project each year that will leave a meaningful impact on the Olathe community. This year’s class raised more than $10,000 for soccer goals and the volleyball court. In addition, class participants volunteered their time towards setting up the volleyball court and assembling the soccer goals and are excited to take part in the upcoming ribbon cutting.
