Music Group for all ages. This group is led by a board-certified music therapist working in special education and is designed for the whole family to participate with each other. This group will be 30 minutes in length for the large group, and if there are some more motivated individuals, they will have an opportunity to explore the music and instruments before and after the group at their leisure.

We are hosting a SOAR Social Club for individuals who are 18 and older with lower support needs, who desire to build community.  We will share a meal, play games, participate in a themed activity, and socialize with friends.   Where: SOAR office (12201 W 88th St, Lenexa, KS 66215) When: 2nd Tuesdays of each month, 6pm-8:30pm

Join us for a dialogue between artist, educator, and Charlotte Street 2023 fellow Ruben Castillo and Stuart Hinds, Curator of Special Collections & Archives, University Libraries at UMKC. Ruben Castillo and Stuart Hinds will discuss how artists use research and archives to inform and expand their artistic practice. Castillo’s current installation at the Nerman Museum features works that reference specific objects in the Gay and Lesbian Archives of Mid-America (GLAMA), which is part of the Special Collections & Archives at UMKC. Over the course of several years, Castillo worked with Hinds to conduct research into the histories and aesthetics of these important objects and incorporated them into his ongoing printmaking and installation practice. Learn more about his artistic journey and about the resources that the Special Collections have to offer. Volunteers Needed!!! Help us bless and serve our community on March 8th 5:30-9PM SOARly Needed R&R event. March's R&R will be hosted at Cross Points Life Church (6824 Lackman Road, Shawnee, KS 66217) We will serve 20 families. Volunteers are needed during the following time slot: March 8th 5:30-9:30 PM We need volunteers to serve in a variety of roles including being a one-on-one buddy to an individual with special needs, siblings group leader, crafts, sensory, medical, security, and more. We also need volunteers to help us set up and tear down. Volunteers must be in the 6th grade and older to volunteer on their own. If they are younger than in the 6th grade we encourage them to serve with their family.
