Join Prairie Paws Animal Shelter at Tomahawk Hills on Friday May 19th to raise money for the homeless pets! This course is ranked one of the areas most challenging public courses. Our tournament will feature an 18 hole scramble on over 6,000 yards which plays to a par-70. With beautiful Zoysia grass fairways and driving range, this historic and challenging course is ready for the modern golfer. It will be a great day of raising funds for our four legged friends! I See You - Call for Proposals About the Conference Baker University, KVC Health Systems, SHRM – Johnson County, and DEI+ are looking for presenters at our first DEI conference, July 27th at the Ball Event Center in Olathe KS. This will be an in-person event, running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with an included catered lunch and optional social hour to socialize, network, and share a few drinks with friends and peers. This conference aims to connect professionals through engaging dialog on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with strategies that can be used in business, education, health, and beyond. We are seeking topics and proposals for our 50-minute break-out sessions throughout the conference to provide a variety of perspectives on DEI awareness, strategies, needs, and issues: In essence, we’re looking for any topic which serve to educate, advocate, engage, and empower individuals cultivating partnerships and conversations that create and sustain an environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Topics can even include personal stories to raise awareness of DEI needs for certain groups or within certain industries. We are looking for a range of ideas to capture numerous perspectives on how to incorporate diverse, inclusive, and equitable practices in our schools and universities, businesses, and communities. Fourth Fridays are back; don’t miss JAM this week The first Fourth Friday celebration of the year is this Friday! You won’t want to miss when JAM: Jackson and Mars takes the stage. The annual celebrations are sponsored by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau and are back in downtown Olathe this summer. The first one will be from 6 – 9 p.m. this Friday, May 26. The main stage will be set up just east of Kansas Avenue and Loula Street. The stage will face the east with the hub of activity taking place at the intersection of Cherry and Loula streets. May’s event will feature a performance by Mr. Stinky Feet at Junque Drawer at 6 p.m., a Sip ‘n’ Shop event along Cherry Street between Loula and Cedar, a beer garden, face painters, balloon artist, a magician and an interactive puppet experience throughout the event. And don’t forget, the Downtown Library is open until 8 p.m. with a craft activities for children on the second floor. The gaming room will also be open for teens. Fourth Fridays is presented by Honda and Subaru of Olathe.
