Chamber Social and Holiday After Hours this Thursday

The holiday season is here, so please make plans to join us for our annual Olathe Chamber of Commerce Social & Holiday After Hours from 3:30 – 5 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 30, in the first-floor flex space of our new home at the Downtown Olathe Library.

We’re modifying our normal fifth Thursday Chamber Social to accommodate for the holidays. It’s a two-for-one; all the fun of the normal Chamber Social with a holiday twist. We can’t wait to see you there.

State Legislative Lunch set for Dec. 12

Please join Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson and Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins for a recap on the 2023 legislative session and an outlook for the 2024 session at the Olathe Chamber of Commerce State Legislative Lunch from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Dec. 12. Register today.

The event will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn, 12080 S. Strang Line Road and the cost is $40 per person. The deadline to register is Dec. 5.

New Member Luncheon is Friday

Be sure to join us at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, for our New Member Orientation Luncheon. Whether you’re a new member, a member who has never attended, or have new employees, you and your employees are welcome to attend. Register today.

The doors open at 11:15 a.m. and will take place at Olathe Health Cancer Center, 15123 S. OMC Pkwy. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Cancer Center conference room and is followed by a networking session from 12:30 – 1 p.m. Please join us to learn how to make the most of your Chamber membership. Mark your calendars. The Olathe Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting is set for 11:15 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.

This is a great chance to network with friends and peers; learn more about some of the individuals and companies that have helped make Olathe what it is today; and help us recognize individuals and businesses for the achievements over the past year. It’s time to celebrate everything that happened in 2023 and look ahead to what will be another great year in Olathe.

Registration open for 2024 Garmin Olathe Marathon

Registration for the 2024 Garmin Olathe Marathon is open and right now is a perfect time to sign up. Register here and start training!

The new logo and colors have been unveiled and 2024 is the year of the Good Witch. Check out the cool new look here.

This year’s Garmin Marathon, organized by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau, will start and finish at Garmin International at 151st and Ridgeview.

The April 20 event will feature the largest full-marathon and half-marathon in the state of Kansas and a 10K, Munchkin Marathon and Senior Walk. Register here and join in on the fun.

And if that’s not enough, the Garmin Olathe Marathon is back in the Heartland Series in 2023. The Heartland 39.3 Series is a challenge for all of the half marathon fanatics who love to run half marathons and who want to take on the challenge of participating in three area half marathons in five weekends! The Garmin Olathe Marathon half marathon race is the final event in the series. Check out more info here.

CHAMBER CONNECTION

Kickoff the holiday season in style with the annual Olathe Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 1, at the Olathe Community Center, 1205 E. Kansas City Road. Join Olathe Mayor John Bacon and Fox 4 reporter Matt Stewart as they light the Mayor’s Christmas tree. Enjoy an evening of music with the Olathe Civic Jazz Band and the Olathe Northwest High School choir. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, then grab some hot cocoa and kettle corn before taking a stroll through the beautifully lit “Glolathe” display at Stagecoach Park.

Volunteers are needed for the Olathe Family YMCA mobile food pantry distribution from 1 – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6. For more information on volunteering call 913-393-9622.

The Community Blood Center of KC is hosting the Johnson County Charity Challenge blood drive from 12- 6 p.m. next Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center, 10410 South Ridgeview Road. The event is sponsored by Central Back of the Midwest. Non-profit organizations are encouraged to sign up as a group for a chance to their groups to win a $1,000 or $500 prize. The Gerson Super Famous Fall/Winter Warehouse Sale is open through Dec. 16. The sale is open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It’s closed on Sunday. The sale is open to the public and will take place on the east side of their building at 1450 S. Lone Elm Road.

Don’t miss the Holiday House at Junque Drawer, 101 W. Cedar St., in downtown Olathe. It features five rooms filled with holiday hoopla. They have stocking stuffers, ornaments to personalize, home decor, slippers and pajamas, hundreds of ornaments, candles, kitchen/hosting gifts and so much more! Don’t miss the grand opening for Truity Credit Union’s newest location at 11172 S. Lone Elm Road. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Dec. 6. You could win an Alaskan cruise, Chiefs tickets, Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets and more. Free lunch and awesome swag for all those in attendance.

Save the date for the latest Johnson County Community College Continuing Education Business Breakfast Series event from 7 – 9 a.m. on Jan. 25, 2024 at the Capital Federal Conference Center in the Regnier Center at JCCC.
