Registration deadline for Business Lunch Series is Friday

The deadline to register for the Nov. 8 Olathe Chamber of Commerce Business Lunch Series is this Friday. The “Higher Education Update” event will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Ball Event Center, 21350 W. 153rd St. Register today.

The world of higher education is ever-changing. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from three leaders about what the future of higher education may look like in our area.

Register now and hear from Dr. Andy Bowne of Johnson County Community College, Debbie Kirchhoff of Kansas State University – Olathe and Dr. David Spittal of the MidAmerica Nazarene University. They will talk about what is going on at their respective schools and what we can expect in the not-so-distant future.

State of the City Luncheon a huge hit

A big crowd was on hand for the annual State of the City Luncheon last week.

The annual luncheon was hosted by the Olathe Chamber with Olathe Health as our presenting sponsor and took place at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Olathe Conference Center.

City of Olathe Mayor John Bacon talked about what makes Olathe “Beyond Exceptional” and reviewed some of the city’s accomplishments over the past year.

A huge thanks to the City of Olathe, Farmers Insurance, Garmin, Gilmore Bell, Humana, John Deere, McCownGordon Construction and Terracon for helping to sponsor the event.

Leadership Olathe applications deadline quickly approaching

The application window for the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s popular and highly successful Leadership Olathe program remains open. The deadline to become a member of the 2023 class is Nov. 11. Apply today.

This marks the 42nd year of the program open to residents of Olathe. It will be conducted in nine, full-day sessions running January through May. For more information and applications, visit here.

The general election is next week; stay informed

The Nov. 8 general election is next week. Stay informed about all the candidates by checking out the Johnson County Public Policy Council website here.

If you haven’t registered to vote, today is the deadline. Register to vote today. Don’t forget to make your voice heard. Next Tuesday, Nov. 8, is election day. Check here for any questions about polling locations, advance voting and poll hours. Advance voting continues through Monday, Nov. 7 at specific locations.

Congratulations to Walmart in West Olathe on their Chamber Ribbon Cutting last week to celebrate their awesome remodel. Be sure to stop by and see them at 395 N. K-7 Highway.

Be sure to sign up for Eggstravaganza to benefit the Olathe Mayor’s Children’s Fund on Nov. 9. There are two opportunities available, one at 5:30 p.m. and another at 7 p.m. at First Watch, 15289 W. 119th St. Individual tickets and sponsorships are available. Get more info here.

Tickets are still available for the Nov. 11 Olathe Community Prayer Breakfast. Register now for the annual event and hear from heroic pilot. Captain Tammie Jo Shults. The event is from 7 – 9 a.m. at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Check here for more information or to purchase tickets. Volunteers are also needed the evening before the Nov. 11 event. Kansas Independent College Association (KICA) today released the results of a study that estimates the impact of MidAmerica Nazarene University on the statewide economy is $84.8 million and sustains 764 jobs. Read more about MNU’s economic impact here.

If you have multiple day events, a form must be submitted for each day. Listings must meet the established criteria.
