Olathe Health now part of the University of Kansas Health System

Last week, the University of Kansas Health System announced Olathe Health has become part of the University of Kansas Health System.

Together, the health system will continue to provide the highest quality care close to home, while expanding patients’ access to more comprehensive and integrated care.

“Our region deserves high-quality healthcare close to home,” said Bob Page, President and CEO of the University of Kansas Health System. “By coming together as one health system, patients will have the opportunity to access the most advanced care in a more seamless way.”

First BLS to feature President
of KC Current

We can’t wait for our first Business Lunch Series event of 2023. Join the Olathe Chamber of Commerce to hear from Allison Howard, President of the Kansas City Current, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Ball Conference Center. Register now.

The luncheon will feature a conversation with the woman behind Kansas City’s professional women’s soccer team. Coming off of a remarkable 2022 season, Howard will talk about the Current and the explosion of women’s professional soccer in KC.

This year, the Current took second in the National Women’s Soccer League in just their second year in the league and with a new downtown stadium in the works – the future looks bright.

set for March 3

Registration open for 2023 Garmin Olathe Marathon

Registration for the 2023 Garmin Olathe Marathon is open and we can’t think of a more perfect time to sign up. Register here and start training!

This year’s Garmin Marathon, organized by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau, will start and finish at Garmin International at 151st and Ridgeview.

The April 22 event will feature the largest full-marathon and half-marathon in the state of Kansas and a 10K, and Munchkin Marathon and Senior Walk. Register here and join in on the fun.

And if that’s not enough, the Garmin Olathe Marathon is back in the Heartland Series in 2023. The Heartland 39.3 Series is a challenge for all of the half marathon fanatics who love to run half marathons and who want to take on the challenge of participating in three area half marathons in five weekends! The Garmin Olathe Marathon half marathon race is the final event in the series. Check out more info here.

CHAMBER CONNECTION

The Arts Council of Johnson County (ACJC) announced 27 finalists have been nominated from the Olathe Public Schools for the 2023 Shooting Stars Awards. All finalists will be recognized and Shooting Stars scholarship award recipients will be announced at the virtual Shooting Stars Gala on Sunday, April 2. Read more here.

Approximately 150 vendors and more than 600 veterans will be on hand at the Greater Kansas City Veteran Career and Transition Fair from 1 – 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Overland Park Convention Center, 6000 College Blvd. Maciel Wealth Management is one of the sponsors of the 6th annual event. Save the date for the Johnson County Community College Continuing Education Business Breakfast Series event form 7 – 9 a.m. on Jan. 24. More information about the event, “Reboot Retention: How Does Culture Contribute?” can be found here.

The public is welcome to the 17th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration on January 17, at the College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan. Each year MidAmerica Nazarene University honors and promotes the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with this free special service for the community. Read more about this great event here.

All Johnson County residents can drop off their unwanted Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at the City of Olathe’s drop-off event from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the HHW facility, 1420 S. Robinson Dr., behind the City of Olathe Public Works and Customer Service. Residents will be asked to provide a photo ID and a general description of their HHW items. For the safety of staff, customers will be asked to remain in their vehicle at all times during the drop-off. Staff will remove all materials. Visit here for a full list of acceptable items.

The Olathe Chamber of Commerce can provide a certificate of origin for members free of charge at any time. Just drop by the office at 18103 W. 106th St., Suite 100 and we will gladly provide it for you.

A LOOK AHEAD

NOTE: You can reach the Olathe community and beyond through the Chamber’s online calendar of events. Members can complete the online form and then submit their events online for approval by staff. If you have multiple day events, a form must be submitted for each day. Listings must meet the established criteria.

Also, if the Olathe School District is closed due to inclement weather, the event will be cancelled.
