Olathe Chamber Annual Meeting just three days away

The Olathe Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting is just three days away. Our annual luncheon is set for 11:15 a.m. on Friday, March 3 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center. We hope to see you there.

This is a great chance to network with friends and peers; learn more about some of the individuals and companies that have helped make Olathe what it is today; and help us recognize individuals and businesses for the achievements over the past year. It’s time to celebrate everything that happened in 2022 and look ahead to what will be another great year in Olathe.

This year’s theme is Built for the Future. We’ve been building something pretty special in Olathe for quite a while – 100 years to be exact – and now we’re built for whatever the future holds. Join us to help us kick off our 100th anniversary in style.

The Annual Meeting title sponsor is Olathe Health. Thank you to gold sponsors Country Club Bank, Garmin, Gilmore & Bell, Humana, John Deere, McCownGordon Construction, Olathe Public Schools and Terracon.

Our table sponsors are AdventHealth, Atmos Energy, Brinkman Contractors, Central Bank of the Midwest, City of Olathe, Commerce Bank, Community America Credit Union, CoreFirst Bank, Enterprise Bank & Trust, Foulston Siefkin, Heartland Coca-Cola, Harmon Construction, HNTB Corporation, Inclusion Connections, JE Dunn Construction, LANE4 Property Group, Mainstreet Credit Union, McCarthy Building Companies, MidAmerica Nazarene University, Nabholz Construction, Newkirk Novak, Olathe Ford Lincoln, Olathe Fire Department, Olathe Police Department, Olsson Inc., Opus, Robert Brogden Buick GMC, State Farm Insurance/Jason Parker, Turner Construction, UMB, and the University of Kansas Health Systems.

The speaker and video sponsors are Johnson County Community College, Honda of Olathe, Kansas State University – Olathe, KVC Health Systems, Subaru of Olathe and VanTrust Real Estate.

We’re excited to re-engage with the younger members of the Olathe Chamber of Commerce (and the young at heart). This is the first of what will be monthly meetings of the YOPro group. Beginning in March, YOPro will meet the fourth Tuesday of each month. Stay tuned for more great events coming later this year.

The 2023 YOPro program is sponsored by Enterprise Bank & Trust.

This event is free, but please register today so we know who’s coming. We can’t wait to see you on March 28.

Ingram’s Magazine ranked Olathe Public Schools No. 2 in the Kansas City metropolitan area on the Kansas side. The ranking was based on the school district’s average ACT score, which outperforms the state and nation. With an average score of 22.2, Olathe Public Schools’ class of 2021 drove the district to land its No. 2 spot.

Great news for Johnson County small businesses that took a hit over the past couple of years. The Enterprise Center in Johnson County (ECJC) announced that Johnson County small businesses – including childcare facilities – are able to apply for a Johnson County Small Business Recovery grant here.

The Kansas High School Student Athletics Association Student Advisory Team selected Laura Klaassen, choral director at Olathe East High School, for the 2022 KSHSAA Heart of the Arts Award. One of the many reasons that she was given this award is due to her adaptive music class with the center-based resource students.

Join the City of Olathe for its third and final public forum for the Olathe Parks & Rec Master Plan from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at the Indian Creek Library. Attendees will receive a high-level summary of the data synthesized from resident engagement and will be able to provide feedback on the plan’s recommendations and proposed projects. Visit here for more information.

Heather Schoonover, Olathe Public Schools community liaison, is the recipient of the Olathe Lions Club fourth annual Milburn-Reddy Community Award. The Olathe Lions Club is proud to present the award to Schoonover on Saturday, March 4 at the Olathe Indian Creek Library during the free community health fair.
