President of Current wows at first BLS

The first Olathe Chamber of Commerce Business Lunch Series event of the year was a huge success. Attendees heard from Allison Howard, President of the Kansas City Current last week at the Ball Conference Center.

The luncheon featured a conversation with the woman behind Kansas City’s professional women’s soccer team. Howard spoke about Kansas City’s commitment to build the first soccer specific stadium in the NWSL and working to create the best environment for players and fans. She also discussed the organization’s vision and continued momentum we’ll see in the coming months, elevating the sport and the entire Kansas City area.

Check out some photos form the event here.

Olathe Chamber Annual Meeting three weeks away

The Olathe Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting is less than three weeks away. Our annual luncheon is set for 11:15 a.m. on Friday, March 3 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.

This is a great chance to network with friends and peers; learn more about some of the individuals and companies that have helped make Olathe what it is today; and help us recognize individuals and businesses for the achievements over the past year. It’s time to celebrate everything that happened in 2022 and look ahead to what will be another great year in Olathe.

This year’s theme is Built for the Future. We’ve been building something pretty special in Olathe for quite a while – 100 years to be exact – and now we’re built for whatever the future holds. Join us to help us kick off our 100th anniversary in style.

The 2023 Annual Meeting title sponsor is Olathe Health. Register today or call 913-764-1050 for more information.

Chamber Foundation helps sponsor Skills for Success Workshop

Nearly 100 Olathe School District students from the 21st Century Academies took part in the Skills for Your Success Workshop last week at Kansas State University – Olathe.

Students each attended three different interactive sessions on business etiquette, a 30-second elevator speech and how to succeed in an interview, led by professionals from Garmin, First National Bank and Farmers Insurance. Following those sessions, the students put all that information to use by engaging in mock interviews with representatives from the Olathe business community.

The workshop was funded by a grant from the Olathe Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Take a look at some photos from the workshop here.
