HR Roundtables are back

The popular Olathe Chamber of Commerce HR Roundtable is back. The next meeting of HR professionals will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Olathe Chamber office, 260 E. Santa Fe St.

At this session we’ll dive into new and incoming industry and organizations and the direct and even indirect effects on people operations, and the area’s workforce.

The HR Roundtable is for HR professionals and pre-registration is required, as space is limited. There’s no cost to attend and you’re welcome to bring your own lunch, however attendees can prepay for a catered lunch.

The deadline to register for this year’s City of Olathe Civic Academy has been extended. The Olathe Civic Academy provides an opportunity for those who live and/or work in Olathe to learn more about their local government. The nine, evening sessions are led by representatives from City departments. There is no fee to participate and dinner is provided at each session. AdventHealth Shawnee Mission named Alan Verrill, MD, its new president and CEO, effective Feb. 25. Dr. Verrill is transitioning to AdventHealth Shawnee Mission from his role as president and CEO of AdventHealth South Overland Park, which opened in 2017 with a 24/7 emergency department, imaging, laboratory and medical office building prior to opening as a full-service hospital in 2021.

Join Benton House for the grand opening of their new memory care expansion. The event will take place from 2 – 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Benton House, 15700 W. 151st St. There will be food and an opportunity to get more information about their wonderful facility. There will also be an Olathe Chamber Ribbon Cutting at 2:30 p.m.

The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association is looking for nominations for its 2024 Wall of Honor and will accept nomination forms through the end of the month. This year’s honorees will be recognized at a dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Nominees must have graduated from a district high school at least 20 years ago. Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis. The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be open at the Indian Creek Library from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17 and from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18. Fill a sack for $6. Buy two sacks, get four free. Learn more here.

If you have multiple day events, a form must be submitted for each day. Listings must meet the established criteria.
