Join us for our third Chamber Social

Next Chamber Social just around the corner

The third Olathe Chamber of Commerce Social of the year is coming up quick. Please join us for the Chamber Social from 3:30 – 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31.

This Chamber Social will take place at the Mission Bowl, 1020 S. Weaver. It’ll be a perfect setting for our new networking opportunity on what is sure to be a wonderful, late summer evening.

Our weekly Chamber Coffee sponsors are Country Club Bank, Olathe Health, Harlan and Jason Parker State Farm Insurance and Xfinity.

Plenty coming up this fall at the Olathe Chamber

There’s plenty going on at the Olathe Chamber of Commerce over the course of the next couple of months. We know fall is a busy time, but carving out some time for some Olathe Chamber fun will be well worth it.

Make plans to join us for the 2023 Olathe Chamber of Commerce Foundation event from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at TopGolf, 10611 Nall Ave.

Enjoy a fun night of networking, food, a silent auction and more while supporting the Olathe Chamber’s Foundation. 

The annual State of the City Luncheon will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Olathe Conference Center. Come to hear about all the successes from the City of Olathe and what’s ahead in 2024. 

Finally, don’t forget our Career Expo, which will take place all day on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Olathe Event Center. This event features representatives of different career fields imparting valuable career information to more than 500 area high school students. Check here for more information.

Johnson County Old Settlers Days on the horizon

Johnson County Old Settlers Days on the horizon

Be sure to mark your calendars and make your way downtown for the annual Johnson County Old Settlers Days Sept. 7-9 in downtown Olathe. This year’s theme is “Lasso the Future.”

The annual celebration of the early settlers of Johnson County begins Thursday night, Sept. 7, and runs through the final concert Saturday night right in the heart of our beautiful downtown.

The parade will take place downtown at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 and Lonestar takes the stage for the big finale that night.

New Member Orientation Luncheon next month

Be sure to join us at 11:15 a.m. this Friday, Sept. 8, for our New Member Orientation Luncheon. Whether you’re a new member, a member who has never attended, or have new employees, you and your employees are welcome to attend.

The doors open at 11:15 a.m. and will take place at Olathe Medical Center, Doctor’s Building 2, 20333 W. 151st St., room 315. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. and is followed by a networking session from 12:30 – 1 p.m. Please join us to learn how to make the most of your Chamber membership. Register here.

The luncheon is presented by Olathe Health. Please remember that masks are required in all Olathe Health facilities.

August Fourth Friday is
next week

The August Fourth Friday celebration is just around the corner.

The celebrations, sponsored by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Olathe continue from 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25.

Fourth Fridays is presented by Honda and Subaru of Olathe. And a big thanks to our other Fourth Fridays sponsors Azura Credit Union, City of Olathe, Fry Orthodontics, Humana, Olathe Communities that Care and Tommy’s Express Car Wash.

August’s Fourth Friday event will feature Bob Jovi and a Cars tribute band on stage. The concert starts at 6 p.m.

Be sure to make plans to join us this month, whether you’re down there to have fun, or want to sponsor a booth at the event. August will feature our Sip ‘n’ Shop event again. The cost is $25 for members. This month will also feature a car show from the Mustang Club and beverages from Touring Taps. If all that’s not enough, there’s plenty of sipping and shopping options down at the Junque Drawer Boutique and Three T Baker’s Boutique, as well. One thing that has been consistent throughout the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s first century of service to the Olathe community; The Chamber members that get involved get an almost immediate return on their Chamber investment.

CHAMBER CONNECTION

The 2023 Garmin Air Show will take place this weekend at New Century AirCenter. Gates open for the event at 9 a.m. on both Aug. 19 and 20 and the show starts at 10:30 a.m. Shuttles begin at 8:30 a.m. Check here for more info on the event, which features the Blue Angels, the Raptor Demo Team and the KC Flight Formation.

Starfish Project is hosting a charity pickleball tournament at Chicken & Pickle, 5901 W. 135th St. at 11 a.m. on Aug. 19. Check here for more information.

City of Olathe residents can drop off their unwanted electronic waste at the City of Olathe’s drop-off event from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 19, at the City of Olathe Robinson Admin building, 1385 S. Robinson Dr. Residents will be asked to provide a photo ID. Items accepted are the same household electronics accepted through appointments (examples): phones, TV’s/monitors, computers/laptops, vacuums, cables/wires, and other common electronics. Below, is a list of electronic items not accepted at the event: smoke detectors, ballasts containing PCB’s, items containing Freon (fridge/freezer/dehumidifiers), large appliances (washer/dryer/oven), or electronic business/commercial waste.

The Olathe Community Center, 1205 E. Kansas City Road, will be closed this week for annual cleaning and maintenance. Additionally, as part of the dedication of service to our guests, the indoor pool will be closed through Friday, Sept. 22, due to needed maintenance and repairs. The Mill Creek Pool remains open for Olathe Community Center members and OCC day pass and Splash Pass holders. The Friends of the Library Book sale will be open to the public from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20 at the Indian Creek Library. All items including books, DVDs, and CDs are all $1 or less. On Sunday fill a sack for $6. Buy two sacks, get four free. Visit here to learn more.

NOTE: You can reach the Olathe community and beyond through the Chamber’s online calendar of events. Members can complete the online form and then submit their events online for approval by staff. If you have multiple day events, a form must be submitted for each day. Listings must meet the established criteria.
