Olathe Historical Society House Tour, Dec. 5

 

The Olathe Historical Society will host its holiday house tour, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5.  Five vintage homes decorated for the holidays will be open for the tour. Tickets are $10 and available at each home or online at http://www.olathehistoricalsociety.org/homes-tour. Contact Bob Courtney 913-764-2494 (or the day of the tour at 913-558-6682) for more information. The tour will feature:

 

  • 213 S. Pine – A Victorian Four Square style home built in 1906 for James Pellett who was Olathe’s mayor from 1913 to 1919, has been beautifully restored inside and features many outdoor points of interest.

 

  • 209 S. Pine – Built in 1890 and originally owned by S.D. Scott, a Kansas Supreme Court lawyer.  The house was purchased by current owner in 2010 and is filled with many unique items from the artist-owner’s travels.

 

  • 318 W. Cedar – A lovely turn-of-the –century home is located in Olathe’s Original Town.  The innovative young couple who currently own the house have done delightful remodeling and decorating to create an up to date feel in an older home.

 

  • 108 W. Cedar – Unwind Bistro & Boutique is a very recently opened enterprise in one of Olathe’s restored older homes.  Formerly a tearoom, it now features a bistro on the main floor and boutique upstairs. 

 

  • 1200 Kansas City Road –Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm.  One of Olathe’s jewels, the Mahaffie House, located on the grounds of the living history farm, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
