The Olathe Fire Department will host an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 12, from noon to 4 p.m. at Olathe Fire Station No. 1, 501 E. Old Hwy 56. The Open House will feature crash rescue and bomb squad demonstrations and attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) about fire and life safety and emergency preparedness. Free flu shots and refreshments will also be available while supplies last.

In addition to fire engine and station tours, there will be a number of other activities for children and families, including spraying water from a real hose and a chance to meet “Sparky” the talking robotic fire dog. The Olathe Police Department will also have officers on hand to conduct child car seat safety checks. The public is invited to attend this free event.
