Moran to keynote Olathe Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, Jan. 29

OLATHE, Kan. — It’s only fitting that on Kansas Day (Jan. 29) one of the state’s staunchest advocates, U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas, serves as the keynote speaker for the Olathe Chamber Commerce Annual Meeting.

Moran, who is a familiar face in every corner of the state, will update attendees on the happenings in Washington, D.C., and share his experiences in representing the people of the Sunflower State.

“We appreciate that Senator Moran is taking time out of his busy schedule to share his thoughts and meet with business leaders in our community,” Olathe Chamber Chairman Jason Peters said. “Because it is his priority to stay connected with his constituents, we’ve had a great rapport with the Senator, and know we have a true advocate for what is important to us.

Moran, who has a long record of service to Kansans, began his political career serving eight years (1989-97) in the state senate. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996 and was re-elected seven times. His tenure in the U.S. Senate began in 2010. Currently, his committee assignments include: Appropriations; Commerce, Science and Transportation; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Veterans Affairs; and Indian Affairs.

“As we gear up for a new year in Congress, I look forward to visiting with business leaders at the Olathe Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting,” Moran said. “This is an opportunity for me to give an update regarding what’s going on in Washington and hear directly from chamber members about the issues important to economic growth in Johnson County. Olathe has always been a great place to start a business, and I will continue working to put policies in place that foster job creation and improve the quality of life in your community.”

The event begins at 11:15 a.m. and will be conducted for the first time at the new Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center at the intersection of Ridgeview Road and Kansas 10 Highway (10401 South Ridgeview Road). In addition to Sen. Moran’s appearance, the attendees will receive updates on chamber, economic development, and travel and tourism activities for the past year. Awards will also be presented to individuals and organizations for their contributions to the Chamber and Olathe community, including citizen and corporate citizen-of-the-year. Register online here.
