COMCAST DELIVERS FASTER INTERNET SPEEDS TO KANSAS CITY MARKET

Extreme 250 Mbps Service Now Available to Entire Comcast Service Area

Introduction is Next Step to Launch of Gigabit Speeds to All Homes

INDEPENDENCE, MO – May 21, 2015 – Comcast today announced the launch of Extreme 250, a new 250 Mbps Internet speed tier, across the company’s entire Independence and Olathe service area.  This introduction is one of the final steps to bringing multi-gigabit internet speeds to Comcast’s entire Kansas City service area in the coming months.

“Technology is a passion across the Kansas City area, and we’re delighted to offer all Independence – Olathe area Comcast customers the new Extreme 250 Mbps tier that will allow them to do more online, across multiple devices,” said Sam Hassan, Regional Director of Sales & Marketing, Comcast – Kansas City.  “We’re also excited about the many opportunities ahead to increase speeds as we look to the future of making multi-gigabit service available to our entire Kansas City service area.”

Previously introduced in Olathe, Blue Springs and Raytown, 250 MB offers a super-fast, reliable connection for those who want to get the most out of their online experience, whether gaming, downloading movies, transferring large data files, video calling, and more.  Meanwhile, Comcast is testing the next generation technology platform, called DOCSIS 3.1, which will provide a flexible, fully scalable gigabit internet solution.  When fully deployed, it will mean the availability of gigabit speeds to nearly every customer in Comcast’s national footprint over the company’s existing network.

“Comcast has long been a strong supporter of economic development across Independence and the Jackson County area,” said Robert Heacock, Independence City Manager.  “We support the company’s on-going investments in bringing faster broadband speeds to our residents and the business community, and appreciate Comcast’s partnership in helping build a strong economy to the benefit of all citizens.”

Comcast employs nearly 200 Kansas City area residents, deploying innovative products and services, and investing in one of the most advanced broadband networks in the nation.
