“We continue to receive positive feedback about the race, the city of Olathe, the accommodations, our volunteers and the overall hospitality our citizens,” Race Director and VP of Olathe Convention and Visitors Bureau Ashley Arnold said. “When you get almost 4,000 people from 47 states to participate, that says something. We are appreciative of the participants, the 400-plus volunteers, the city staff including police, fire, public works and others, and our sponsors. We could not do this without the contributions of all.”

The Garmin Marathon is an outgrowth of the former NAIA Marathon conducted in Olathe. It is produced by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce, the City of Olathe, and Olathe Conventions & Visitors Bureau. A portion of the proceeds of the event go the Olathe Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund. Last year, the fund was a record $175,000 and was shared by 16 non-profits serving the Olathe community.

Sponsors for the event included: Enterprise Bank (pasta dinner), Sysco (paper goods & volunteer food supplies), Blue Cross & Blue Shield (finish line sponsor), Pepsi Beverages Co. (water & Gatorade), Hilton Garden Inn (official hotel), Whole Foods Market (healthy snacks) Tyson (food), Crawford Sales (beverages), Fry Wagner (storage), Graebel Moving (logistics), Holmes Murphy (packet pickup) and 810 WHB (media partner).

Next year’s event will be run April 16, 2016.
