PLS 3rd Learning, MNU announce the Heartland Academy for Educators

Introducing Heartland Academy for Educators, a new partnership between MNU and PLS 3rd Learning offering educators online learning and micro-credentials (digital badges) for professional development and graduate credit.

“We are delighted to partner with PLS 3rd Learning to expand our continuing education program,” said Dr. David J. Spittal, MNU president. “This partnership brings micro-credentialing and other versatile learning experiences to the teachers we serve.”

Heartland Academy for Educators online modules will offer a specific and discrete area of focus designed to target pedagogical themes, master practical teaching method, and fortify leadership strategies. All modules are fully-facilitated by a PLS 3rd Learning instructor and are aligned to frameworks designed by Danielson, InTASC, and Marzano.

“We are very honored to partner with MidAmerica Nazarene University to serve and support teachers across the region,” said Donald J. Jacobs, Ph.D., CEO of PLS 3rd Learning. “We are committed to working alongside MNU in their efforts to bring excellent professional growth opportunities to the K-12 education community.”

Currently, there are 56 modules available to participants, with seat time ranging from 5-15 hours. Four unique micro-credentials, which group related online modules that share a similar focus, are also available.

Admission for the Heartland Academy for Educators programs is rolling. Graduate credit is also available for each module with the completion of a homework template that should be submitted directly to MNU.
