Olathe, Overland Park selected to host 2024, 2025 USYS Regional Championships

The United State Youth Soccer Association has selected Olathe and Overland Park to host their 2024 and 2025 Midwest Regional Championships. The tournaments will be held at both the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex and the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex.

“This is a big win for the City of Olathe, the Olathe Convention & Visitors Bureau, the county and our entire region,” said Kelly Peetoom, vice president of the Olathe Chamber of Commerce’s Convention & Visitors Bureau. “In collaboration with VisitOP, Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex and the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex, we look forward to welcoming USYS, coaches, players and families.”

The largest youth soccer organization in the country, US Youth Soccer, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary as they return to Johnson County for the regional tournaments in both 2024 and 2025.

The executive director of the Kansas State Youth Soccer Association, Joe Burger, is thrilled U.S. Youth Soccer has chosen Johnson County as the host of the popular regional tournaments for the next two years.

“Kansas Youth Soccer is excited to host USYS Regionals in Kansas for 2024 and 2025,” Burger said. “We have an outstanding community and want to create a tradition of becoming a regular destination for U.S. Youth Soccer Championships. Our facilities and communities that have taken on the task to host these events are second to none. The KSYSA looks forward to showcasing the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex in Olathe and the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, and putting our best foot forward.”

The collaboration is a major reason both Olathe and Overland Park were able to win the prestigious tournament for both 2024 and 2025. With more than 7,000 hotel rooms between the two cities and 21 full synthetic fields, there will be plenty of room for soccer teams and families from across the region.

The win is further proof that the Johnson County area is a leader in attracting sporting events and continues to be a destination for sports tourism.
