Clay Blair Family Foundation partners with Garmin to benefit teachers

Clay Blair Family Foundation and Garmin International Recognize Olathe Teachers

The Clay Blair Family Foundation, in partnership with Garmin International, publicly recognized teachers in the Olathe Public Schools and St. James Academy in a special ceremony recently.

The Clay Blair Family Foundation generously donated a Garmin vívofit 3 activity tracker to
all teachers in the Olathe School District and Saint James Academy, as a way to honor teachers and the efforts they make each day to impact the lives of students.

Clay Blair, a former educator, and his wife Janet, are committed to making a positive
impact on teachers in the Olathe Public Schools.

“I appreciate the struggle of our educators and have great respect for educational institutions,” Blair said. “There is a natural collaboration with Olathe, the Olathe schools and with Garmin. We are very enthusiastic about this project.”

The initiative was born out of a spirit of generosity, of concern and to find a way to support teachers. The wrist-worn vívofit 3 is intended to help teachers stay on track with their health and wellness goals by encouraging them to stay active.

“Garmin is happy to support its hometown teachers with a gift that keeps on giving,” said Garmin Vice President of Human Resources Laurie Minard. “The vívofit 3 helps inspire users to develop lifelong healthy habits like walking, running, biking, or swimming.”

“We are honored and appreciative of this generous donation to support our teachers,” Interim Superintendent Pat All said. “We are grateful for a community that recognizes the vital importance of education and our teachers.”

An important goal of the donation was to benefit the district as a whole by impacting the rising healthcare costs in this privately funded partnership. The donors hope to inspire others to dream big and think of ways to partner and support education.
