Olathe Chamber Annual Meeting features Sen. Moran, new venue
Gathering set for 11:15 a.m., Friday, Jan. 29 at Embassy Suites Hotel & Olathe Conference Center

Media are invited to attend and cover the 95th Olathe Chamber of Commerce Annual meeting, Friday, Jan. 29 at the new Embassy Suites Hotel and Olathe Conference Center at 10401 South Ridgeview Road. The event begins at 11:15 a.m. and is expected to draw 500-plus attendees.

The theme is “Olathe: City of New Horizons” recognizing an expanding horizon due to physical expansion of retail, office, industrial and warehouse space. The theme also shines the spotlight on additional opportunities created for entrepreneurs and business start-ups, and new career options for residents. The 2016 annual meeting title sponsor is the Olathe Medical Center.

Of possible interest to the media covering the event:

  • U.S. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas will deliver the keynote address and be available for interviews.
  • Access to interview officials and film various amenities of the new Embassy Suites Hotel and Olathe Conference Center. It is the first, full-service hotel to open in the metropolitan region in nearly 15 years (Sheraton Overland Park opened November 2002).
  • Current chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Jason Peters of Lathrop & Gage, will introduce the new 2016 Chairman of the Board, Michael Snyder of John Deere.
  • Peters will outline some of the community’s top achievements in what has been the best year in Olathe for economic development in the region. That includes 1.1 million square feet of new space and 425,000 of infill of existing space – at a combine investment of $157 million, resulting in 1,470 jobs created or retained.
  • The Chamber will present its top awards of the year, including “Citizen of the Year” and “Corporate Citizen of the Year,” along with numerous volunteer awards.

“There is more excitement and buzz about this annual meeting than others in recent memory,” Olathe Chamber CEO Tim McKee said. “I think that is due to having Senator Moran speak, holding it at an impressive new venue and being able to share great news of growth and development in Olathe. Thanks to the hard work of many people, there is much to celebrate.”
