JCCC wins national award for catering Nerman Museum event

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College has won a gold award for catering its Beyond Bounds Electric! fundraiser from the National Association of College & University Food Services.

The college won in the category of catering for a special event among medium-sized schools. Boston College won gold among the large schools and Ferrum College won among the small schools.

In July, the association will chose which of those three is the best in the category of catering for a special event.

“We have the real possibility of being the best in the country,” said Jason Arnett, who worked on the catering project and now is supervisor of the college’s coffee bar operations. “But I’ll take being in the top three in the nation for now.”

Beyond Bounds Electric! took place on Oct. 18, 2014. It raised money to support the college’s Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.

Behind JCCC in the middle-sized schools competition was the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. It took silver and Eastern Washington University won bronze.
