Grantham University commemorates 65th birthday

Grantham University Commemorates 65 Year Birthday with a

Year of Impact

University staff members pay tribute to 65 years of service by stepping up University-wide volunteerism and fundraising efforts.

Lenexa, Kan. –  Grantham University, one of the oldest accredited, private, degree-granting distance education universities in the United States, is celebrating its 65th birthday – throughout the entire year. The University is launching an internal campaign to reinforce Grantham’s inherent focus on giving back to the community, with employee contests, events and motivational videos, and team and individual volunteer opportunities planned throughout the year.

The University was founded in 1951 by Donald Grantham, a World War II veteran whose vision was to make education achievable for military service members and veterans. Over the past 65 years, Grantham’s commitment to serving those who serve with affordable, accessible higher education has evolved into a culture of “service” that extends to helping those in need, as well.

“More than 400 University staff members will commemorate the birthday, as we reach out to our various communities to assist with volunteer needs,” said Kip Esry, Grantham’s vice president of human resources. “Our employees as a whole have been historically generous in donating their time and talents to those less fortunate, and we are excited to present them with additional opportunities to continue doing so. What better way to celebrate 65 solid years of service than by sharing the gift of giving with those around us.”

As one of the University’s planned events, Grantham will hold a community fair this spring and invite non-profit organizations to talk with employees about their mission and needs. Employees may choose to volunteer individually or in groups. Throughout the years, Grantham has evolved in line with changing technologies while maintaining its focus on delivering an exceptional student experience. Today, the 100-percent online university is nationally recognized leader in online and military education serving a global student population.
