SelectRX opens fulfillment facility in Olathe

SelectRX is all about healthcare innovation and the opening of their newest fulfillment facility in Olathe is proof of that. SelectRX — SelectQuote’s full-service, at-home medication management pharmacy — opened a 54,000-sq.-ft., state-of-the-art facility which represents a major step forward in SelectRX’s mission to simplify prescription management for seniors or others with chronic conditions.

“I’m so proud of what we’ve done,” Bob Grant, President of SelectQuote said. “We worked so hard for so many years to build something that truly helps people. This facility is both a celebration of that hard work and a signal of what’s next.”

Growth from the word ‘go’

SelectRX was launched in 2021 and is a part of SelectQuote’s Healthcare Services Division. It came on the heels of the acquisition of two smaller pharmacy businesses located in Monaca, Penn. (near Pittsburgh), and Indianapolis, Ind.

Those acquisitions laid the groundwork for SelectRX’s vision: a high-touch, patient-focused pharmacy model designed specifically for Medicare beneficiaries managing complex medication schedules.

In just four short years, the company has grown its membership base from under 5,000 to nearly 100,000 members — with virtually all of that growth happening organically through SelectQuote’s broader Medicare services platform.

By helping seniors choose the right health plan and then continuing to serve them with pharmacy support, SelectRX has become a powerful extension of the company’s core mission of improving outcomes through personalized, accessible care.

“Our customers are often on six, eight, even ten different medications, sometimes more,” Matt Gunter, Chief Communications Officer for SelectQuote and SelectRX said. “These are individuals living with multiple chronic conditions, and medication adherence is critical. That’s where SelectRX makes a real difference.”

An Innovative Product for a Critical Need

At the heart of SelectRx’s offering is a thoughtfully designed packaging system. Instead of receiving a clutter of prescription bottles, customers get their medications in clearly labeled dose-by-day packets. Each packet is pre-sorted based on when medications should be taken — for example, “Tuesday AM” — and organized in a roll that pulls from a box delivered directly to the customer’s door.

This adherence-friendly packaging removes confusion and reduces the risk of missed or incorrect doses, particularly helpful for older adults who may face cognitive or physical challenges. It also creates an audit trail — making it easier for caregivers and family members to monitor whether a loved one is taking their medications as prescribed.

“Medication adherence is not just a convenience — it’s a lifeline for many of our members,” said Gunter. “The system we’ve built allows people to stay independent longer, avoid unnecessary hospitalizations, and live healthier lives.”

The new facility features a one-of-a-kind machine that packages those medications in the timely, noted pouches to ensure proper dosage.

The Olathe Facility: A Strategic Investment in Technology and Talent

While the existing fulfillment centers in Pennsylvania and Indiana have been retrofitted for SelectRX’s unique model, the new Olathe facility marks the first time the company is building a center from the ground up. Designed with state-of-the-art automation and robotics, the facility will dramatically increase the pharmacy’s processing capacity and improve operational efficiency.

“The new Olathe site effectively doubles the combined square footage of our other two facilities,” Gunter noted. “It’s not just bigger — it’s smarter, more efficient, and purpose-built for scale.”

The facility’s location was carefully chosen. It sits just 15 minutes from SelectQuote’s Overland Park headquarters. Being in the company’s home market also allows SelectRX to more easily host site visits for payer partners like UnitedHealthcare, Humana and Anthem.

We’re so excited to be a part of this and I want to recognize everyone who helped us get here,” Sarah Anderson, Executive Vice President of SelectRX said. “It’s a celebration of what’s ahead as well as a celebration of what we’ve done.”

Creating Jobs and Supporting Community Health

Beyond its technological edge, the new facility will bring a wave of new high-quality jobs to the area, particularly for licensed pharmacists and skilled pharmacy technicians. As SelectRX continues to expand its national footprint, the company is also doubling down on its commitment to creating well-paying jobs in healthcare and helping local communities thrive.

Gunter added that the new facility would target about 100 employees.

We will definitely be hiring salaried licensed pharmacists and supervisors and managers,” Gunter said. “Many of the roles will be pharmacist technicians that will earn an attractive hourly rate.”

Looking Ahead

With continued membership growth expected, the Olathe fulfillment center positions SelectRX to meet rising demand while maintaining its high standard of care and accuracy. As the healthcare landscape increasingly shifts toward home-based services and personalized care, SelectRX is poised to lead the way — one packet at a time.

“This isn’t just about a bigger building,” said Gunter. “It’s about building a better way to support the people who need us most.”
