Looking for input for new Economic Development Strategic Plan

New Economic Development Strategic Plan will help guide city efforts

In partnership with the City of Olathe, the Olathe Economic Development Council is developing a new Economic Development Strategic Plan to see how we can best serve our community.

Part of that process involves you. We’d love to get some feedback from Olathe residents. This new strategic plan that will guide the City’s efforts in the next 10 years. The plan will provide strategic direction for the City by identifying key opportunities for future growth and partnerships and recommend place-based development strategies for the City’s future development.

A quality of life survey and a business survey will help us craft the plan. We value your experience and insights as we craft a strategy for the future.

For reference, both surveys are online and can be accessed here:

We appreciate your help with the Economic Development Strategic Plan and please know that your input will help us greatly.

Our EDC and the City of Olathe work in concert to bring in and retain thousands of jobs every year, help fill millions of sq. ft. of new and existing space that brings in hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

In fact, over the past four years, the EDC has:

  • bring in or retain nearly 6,000 jobs
  • create and fill more than 3.7 million sq. ft. of new or existing space
  • bring in a total investment of more than $630 million.

The pro-growth business environment and collaborative planning philosophy in Olathe foster a dynamic feeling of community and cooperation and much of that is because of that symbiotic relationship between the city of Olathe and the Chamber’s EDC.

Olathe, the county seat of rapidly growing Johnson County, is located 20 miles southwest of Kansas City at the center of a national transportation network. Self-contained and self-sufficient, the city is populated with young, well-educated, high-income families.

Today, it is one of the Midwest’s dominant business, economic and cultural hubs. With more than 138,000 citizens, Olathe is one of the fastest-growing communities in Kansas, offering businesses and residents the best opportunity for success.

An outstanding central location, an unparalleled transportation grid, a nationally recognized school system and one of the best-educated workforces in the nation make Olathe an exciting location for families and businesses.
