Come Celebrate Olathe at the opening of the new Olathe Community Center, 1205 E Kansas City Rd., next Thursday, July 3!
The fun starts in the morning with the Olathe Chamber Coffee networking event and Ribbon Cutting and dedication, and continues later in the afternoon with games, food, activities and 19th Century fireworks. The Olathe Community Center will be open for tours and Mahaffie will have activities throughout the evening.
Grand Opening Day activities:
• 9 a.m. – Olathe Chamber Coffee
• 10:30 a.m. – Ribbon Cutting and dedication
• 4 p.m. – Enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers from Hy-Vee and field day games, demonstrations and activities
around the Community Center
• 6 p.m. – Walk ‘n’ Roll parade and 1860s Baseball on the west side of the grounds
• 7:30 p.m. – Olathe Civic Band concert
• 8:30 p.m. – Cowboy Costume Contest
• 8:45 p.m. – Music by the Gum Springs Serenaders
• 9:15 p.m. – Reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by a cannon firing
• 9:30 p.m. – 19th Century fireworks
